Jay Araas has been teaching math and statistics at Sheridan College since the fall of 2005 and has been the math coordinator for NWCCD for the past several years. He has prior teaching experience at both the high school and university level, but thinks the community college setting is the perfect fit for him. During his time at Sheridan College, he has served on a wide variety of committees and been involved in many collaborative projects and activities with faculty and students in other programs. From 2006-2015, he also volunteered his time as an advisor for Phi Theta Kappa, the college’s honor society. He enjoys working with all the faculty and staff at the college, but most of all he cherishes the interactions with all the students he has taught and mentored throughout the years. His goal is to help all students get a rewarding learning experience and be successful, while preparing them for the next stage in their life.
