Sheridan College presents CHESS, the rock musical
The Sheridan College Broadway Musical Theater Intensive will culminate in three performances of the groundbreaking rock musical CHESS, from the book by Richard Nelson, with lyrics by Tim Rice, and music by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson of ABBA.

In this groundbreaking rock musical, the ancient game of chess becomes a metaphor for romantic rivalries, competitive gamesmanship, super-power politics, and international intrigue. From Bangkok to Budapest, the players, lovers, politicians and spies manipulate and are manipulated to the pulse of a monumental score that includes “One Night in Bangkok” and “Heaven Help My Heart.”
CHESS is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals (www.concordtheatricals.com).
During the two-week intensive, Broadway industry professionals partnered with Sheridan College faculty to prepare students and community members for their roles in the musical. Students were able to choose between a Performance Intensive option, which focused on voice, acting, and dance, or a Tech Intensive option, which focused on backstage, lighting, and sound. Each day students participated in various workshops, lessons, and rehearsals alongside professionals from across the country.
