Symphony Band and Brass Ensembles
The Sheridan College Symphony Band & Brass Ensembles, directed by Dr. Eric Richards, present their first concert of the Spring 2024 semester, “AMERICANA for Wind Band: Classic & New,” at 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 17 in Kinnison Hall at the Whitney Center for the Arts.
This event is free and open to the public.
“Our Symphony Band will have the privilege of performing the world premiere of American West Folk Suite by our own David Ahrens, assistant principal horn,” Richards said. “This engaging work features compelling new settings of the folk songs ‘Sweet Betsy from Pike;’ ‘Git Along, Little Dogies;’ and ‘The Rock Island Line.”
The band will also perform songs by Robert Russell Bennet, Frank Ticheli, and John Philip Sousa. According to Richards, the concert will feature performances by the Sheridan College Trombone Choir and the Sheridan College Brass Quintet.
