The Sheridan College Choirs provide opportunities to sing a wide variety of choral music. The Collegiate Chorale is a community-based ensemble open to all singers. This group rehearses on Tuesday evenings, and there is no audition required for this ensemble. Previous concerts have included collaborations with the Sheridan College Orchestra featuring Choral Masterworks and Opera excerpts. The Sheridan College Chamber Choir rehearses three days a week, and is mostly comprised of Music Majors and other full-time students. Admission to this choir is by audition or permission of the instructor. This group presents works ranging from plainsong chant, madrigals, partsongs, and motets, to vocal jazz and contemporary popular music. Previous projects of the Chamber Choir have included presenting a fully-staged opera, and a collaboration with the Wyoming Symphony in presenting Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony.
Students have the opportunity to take applied private voice lessons, and with instructor approval, present solo vocal works in concerts of choral and vocal music.
