B.S. in Mathematics, SUNY Brockport
Jeff Walter earned bachelor’s degrees in both mathematics and secondary education (specializing in math and special education) and a master’s degree in mathematics from SUNY Brockport, in his hometown of Brockport New York before moving to Arizona to pursue another graduate degree in applied mathematics from the University of Arizona. Deciding to focus instead on a full time teaching career, he left his graduate program at Arizona with an M.S. degree and accepted a full time faculty position here at Sheridan College in the fall of 2016 where he has been teaching since.
Jeff has taught a wide variety of math classes at the college including algebra, trigonometry, calculus, differential equations, and statistics. Since starting here he has taught many of his classes both in-person and online to try and widen students’ ability to access classes at the college. In addition, Jeff has served on multiple college governance committees in his time here, including two years on the Student Progress and Learning committee, and three years on the Curriculum and Standards committee (including one year as committee chair). When not teaching, Jeff enjoys traveling to visit family and friends and likes to spend the summer doing several camping and hiking trips. He also enjoys spending some quiet time playing video games, playing piano, and reading.
