Effie Lewis has taught at Sheridan College in the Dental Program since the Spring of 2004. She was a part-time clinical/lab instructor until May of 2009 when she became a full-time clinical/lab instructor and taught in Pre-clinic, Clinic I, Clinic II and Clinic III, and Dental Materials Lab. In her work, she escorted students to Indian Health Services at various clinics in Montana and the Nursing Homes in Sheridan. Currently, she is a clinical lab lead instructor in Clinic II and Clinic III, tally person for gradebook submissions, Dental Materials lecture and lab instructor, Radiology lab instructor, and the instructor for Clinical Dental Technology hands-on lecture for patient record keeping. Her philosophy is that “all students will learn more when they feel free and comfortable enough to ask questions or receive help with hands-on learning.” She strives to be an approachable instructor in all interactions in the clinical and classroom settings.
Effie started her dental career in South Dakota where she was a Certified Expanded Functions Dental Assistant. She currently holds her Dental Hygiene License in Wyoming with expanded functions endorsements for local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, and lasers.
She is a member of the Wyoming Dental Hygienists Association and the American Dental Hygienists Association. Effie is the chairperson for the Dental Hygiene Scholarship Committee.
