Associate Professor of Life Science

A.A. in Visual Arts – Rich Mountain Community College B.S. in Environmental Biology – Arkansas State University M.S. in Environmental Biology – Arkansas State University

Lora Munroe has taught Life Sciences at Sheridan College since the fall of 2019. She teaches Anatomy and Physiology and Microbiology, focusing on making material engaging and interesting to best support students. Lora uses a variety of methods to present material, blending new technologies with traditional lectures and hands-on labs. In 2022, she was recognized by her Sheridan College peers as the WYDEC Innovative Educator of the Year.
Lora started her career in ecotoxicology research as an undergraduate. Her master’s thesis was titled “Assessment of Instream Conditions of Two Deltaic Streams Receiving Treated Municipal Effluent.” She later worked for several years as a research technician at ASU’s ecotoxicology research facility, contributing to numerous freshwater toxicology projects for the USDA, FDA, EPA, and ADEQ. While still passionate about protecting natural resources, Lora realized she could make a greater impact through teaching. Lora began teaching in 2006 at Arkansas State University, where she taught Biology, Botany, Anatomy, and Physiology. Before moving to Sheridan, she taught those same courses, plus Microbiology and Zoology, at the University of Arkansas Rich Mountain.
Lora loves the outdoors, particularly horses and mules. She enjoys riding, camping, fishing, and packing and spends her summers trail riding and guiding in the Big Horn Mountains.
